Light Show
1 min read
Welcome to the Light Show Lab, the part of my site where I document my journey from “first pixel string” to a fully wired, Ethernet-based holiday light show.
This isn’t just another “here’s my lights” page. I’m treating this like a real engineering project
- Hard-wired ESP32 controllers
- Setting up and configuring WLED for flexible control over pixels like WS2811
- xLights programming for sequencing
- FPP or Falcon Player for running and scheduling light shows
- And all the hardware associated with this project like PSUs, fuse blocks and power distribution
Here you’ll find:
- Build logs of my controller box and wiring
- Lessons learned getting FPP running (and why I ditched the VM idea)
- Guides for people who want reliable shows, not just “it blinked once, so it’s fine”
- Gear lists with the exact parts I’m using
If you’re into pixels, home labs, and doing things the “right way” instead of the quickest way, you’re in the right place.
